4. Coaches' code of conduct


Kelso HC is fully committed to safeguarding and promoting the wellbeing of all its members. We seek that all coaches follow our code to ensure all members can enjoy their hockey.

• Coaches will have appropriate level of relevant qualifications
• All coaches will be PVG checked
• Coaches must remember that winning is only part of the game.
• Coaches will remember that players participate for enjoyment/fun.
• Coaches will give enthusiastic and constructive feedback rather than negative criticism.
• Coaches will ensure that the time spent with players is a positive experience.
• Coaches will ensure that all players deserve equal attention and opportunities.
• Coaches will operate within the rules and spirit of the game and teach players to do the same promoting fair play.
• Coaches will not use bad language.
• Coaches will not harass players, umpires, other coaches or spectators and will encourage players to do the same.
• Coaches will show concern and caution towards players who carry an injury, who get injured or who are sick.
• Coaches will ensure they continue to maintain a level of CPD
• Coaches will not arrive at any venue under the influence of either alcohol or drugs.
• Coaches will respect the rights, dignity and worth of everyone involved in the game on and off the pitch regardless of their gender, ability or cultural background.
• Coaches will adhere to anti-doping policies.

If any coach is found to be in breach of this code they will be asked to appear before representatives of the committee.

By registering with Kelso Hockey Club, all coaches agree to abide by the above Coaches code of conduct
