5. Umpires' code of conduct


Kelso Hockey Club is fully committed to safeguarding and promoting the wellbeing of all its members. We seek that all umpires follow our code to ensure all members can enjoy their hockey.

• Umpires will have appropriate level of relevant qualifications.
• Umpires will place the safety and welfare of the players above all else.
• Umpires will be impartial, consistent, objective and courteous when making decisions.
• Umpires will accept responsibility for their actions and decisions.
• Umpires will condemn unsporting behaviour and promote respect for the individuality of players.
• Umpires will always respect other officials.
• Umpires will not use bad language and refrain from personal abuse towards players or officials
• Umpires will show concern and caution towards sick or injured players.
• Umpires will ensure they continue to maintain a level of CPD keeping up to date with the ‘Laws of the Game’
• Umpires will not arrive at any venue under the influence of either alcohol or drugs
• Umpires will treat each player equally regardless of their gender, ability or cultural background.

If any Kelso Hockey Club umpire is found to be in breach of this code they will be asked to appear before representatives of the
committee.

By registering online as a member of Kelso Hockey Club, umpires agree to abide by the rules set out in the code of conduct detailed above.
