Close encounter with Boroughmuir

Kelso took another point from their home match to keep them in 6th place in East League 3.

Starting off strongly Kelso put Boroughmuir under pressure from the pass back and were unlucky not to be rewarded by a goal. Boroughmuir were the first to strike when they broke through the Kelso defence and opened the scoring in the first quarter, but the visitors didn’t keep the lead for long after some strong attacking from striker Samantha Murdoch resulted in a well taken opener for the home side.

An evenly matched game with both teams playing some skilful end to end hockey continued and resulted in a well taken goal from Kelso Captain Lorraine Tait, after a baseline pass from striker Aillie Herbert.

A second goal from Boroughmuir took the score to 2-2 and then a further goal from Kelso’s Holly Shillinglaw put the home side in front before Boroughmuir once again equalised.

Kelso conceded a penalty corner in the last two minutes of the match but some strong defending kept the final score to 3-3.

Kelso’s player of the match was Holly Shillinglaw with special mention to Eilidh Smith for her fantastic work rate and new comer Aillie Herbert for her two assists.
