Kelso travelled away to Meggetland and started strongly against Edinburgh Hockey Club 2s on Saturday. The away side secured the majority of possession and this led to numerous penalty corners, but with some amazing saves from EHC’s goalie, the score stayed 0-0 after the first quarter. Continuing to press in the second quarter, Erin White drove the baseline and Robyn Ford managed to get her stick on the ball to take the score to 1-0. EHC retaliated with some good attacking play, but all attempts were cleared away by Kelso’s strong defence, ensuring the half time score ending 1-0 to the visitors.

Into the third quarter and again some great play down the right and along the baseline led to Lucy Murray adding to the score making it 2-0 to Kelso. An awesome hit from Emily Young through to Robyn Ford, who did really well to get on the end of it with a shot at goal, led to a great save from the EHC goalie, but with Imogen Johnstone-Jones on her toes, she was unable to save Imogen’s quick rebound and Kelso took the score up to 3-0.

Approaching the end of the game, EHC countered strongly in the last quarter with some great attacks, but the away defence were quick to close EHC down and Ailsa Ogilve made some brilliant saves in goal. The final result was a 3-0 win to Kelso, which was a great result after a closely contested game against strong opposition and Robyn Ford was given player of the match for her hard work and determination, and of course all that running!
