Kelso travelled up to Tranent on Saturday to play top of the league team Ross High. The home team started strongly and scored towards the end of the first quarter. In the second quarter, goalkeeper Ailsa Ogilvie kept Ross High at bay with some incredible saves and Kelso made some good attacking breaks up the pitch with great passing between midfield and strikers, however couldn’t convert. Kelso came out fighting in the third quarter determined to get on the score sheet and did just that, with Lucy Murray striking from top D and the ball being deflected into the goal. Kelso showed no signs of slowing down in the final quarter with another 3 goals being scored. The first resulted from an interception by Lucy who passed to Imogen Johnstone Jones who then slotted the ball in the goal around the Ross High goalie. A great ball through from Ruby Laing led to a strong drive into the D by Lucy who slipped it left to Pip Trotter on the baseline who hit it into the goal with a diving sweep. Although Ross High kept fighting with some attacking corners, the Kelso defence and goalkeeper Ailsa denied the home team from capitalising on them. The final goal came from a ball passed through the middle by Imogen to Iona Thomson up front who then slipped it to back post where Pip finished and made the final score 4-1.

Player of the match goes to Ailsa for her amazing saves and thanks to Ginny Stewart and Rachel Scott for stepping up from the 2s team to help a rather depleted 1s squad.
