Our U10s and U12s had a great morning at Kelso playing against teams from Reivers, Hawick, Selkirk and Innerleithen on a dry and calm morning at the high school.
The p3-5s were up first with Kelso providing 6 of the 11 teams in the U10 section with some closely fought games. Playing 4 aside gives the players a chance to have lots of touches of the ball and really get involved in their team. With small pitches, there are lots of scoring opportunities and we saw some great play from all teams, including good teamwork and passing.
In the U12 section, the p6-7s from Kelso entered 3 teams and showed their skills in 6-aside games on 1/4 pitch. They had the chance to play in lots of different positions, which is great for developing their game play. The players settled well into their teams and showed great skills and movement off the ball to help their teammates.
A massive thank you goes to everyone who helped make the morning happen. Our young umpires, Caitlin, Robyn, Katelyn, Ailsa, Abi, Annika, Sarah and Rosie worked their socks off all morning umpiring all the games and keeping the players safe - well done and thank you very much, girls. Thanks to Emma for helping run the event, Sarah for doing the draw and to parent helpers Louise, Lesley, Stuart, Debbie, Joanne, Catherine, Pam, Lynsey and Tom for looking after our teams so well, organising positions and substitutions. Our volunteers serving teas/coffees and homebaking helped raised funds for the club. Thanks to Laura W, Karen, Jade, Sarah, Lynn, Anna, Gemma, Kim, Bec, Laura P, Jenny, Kirsten, Jo, Natalya and anyone else who sneaked in to help we don't know about! All donations of homebaking were fabulous.
