Tornadoes travelled up to Meggetland on Sunday morning to find the first games being played on a frozen pitch. We were up against Grange Panthers and after a few minutes of settling in, a ball came across the goal from the left and Evie Leonard was there to slot it in. Grange immediately retaliated scoring from a running penalty and then did the same 5 minutes later, despite Cerys’s best efforts. Tornadoes also scored from two very well taken running penalties, one from Rachel and one from Zoe. The team were beginning to dominate the play with solid defending from Abby and Melissa and some creative midfield play by Freya and Martha and, with some lovely skill Toby, beat several players before laying the ball across the goal for Zoe to put in. Rachel added a fifth by working the ball well round the keeper to take the final score to 5-2.

The decision was then made to abandon play because the pitch was still very hard and slippy underfoot, so our second game of the day didn’t take place.
